"There is no such thing as the future. The future is an illusion. What we have is a now, followed by a now, followed by a series of nows.
All the things that we were told we must do to achieve success & fulfill... doesn't happen suddenly. It happens as we build a critical mass of these now moments.
We achieve results by focusing on the moment. And the moment we achieve - bad, good , or significant - depends on what we focus on the moment... "

"Men ought to know that from nothing else but the brain comes joys, delights, laughter and sports, and sorrows, griefs, despondency, and lamentations. And by this, in an especial manner, we acquire wisdom and knowledge, and see and hear and know what are foul and what are fair, what are bad and what are good, what are sweet and what are unsavoury... And by the same organ we become mad and delirious, and fears and terrors assail us... All these things we endure from the brain when it is not healthy... In these ways I am of the opinion that the brain exercises the greatest power in the man."

"Success - To laugh often and much; to win the respect of
intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; this is to have succeeded;"

Out of curiosity, I had captured this digital shot of the Chinese God of Wealth (Cai Shen Ye), just outside one of the little retail shops on the upper floors of the food-court, located next to the People Park Complex.
To the Chinese businessman, big or small, this icon is a significant part of their business beliefs. They believe that by displaying posters &/or artefacts representing the deity in their operating premises, they can attract fortune & luck, so to speak.
How nice if there was such a similar 'God of Ideas'?

A memorable quote from the fast-paced action crime thriller movie, 'Fast & Furious IV', starring Vin Diesel (as the fugitive, Dom Toretto) & Paul Walker (as the cop, Brian O'Connor), who reprised their original opposite roles in the earlier franchises.
The oil tanker hijack (supposedly in the Dominican Republic) as well as car-chase sequence (supposedly across the US-Mexican border) in the movie was really exciting.
The way the movie had ended is certainly a good indication that 'Fast & Furious V' is in the works.

A funny oxymoron, but I reckon it makes sense when it comes to Singaporeans' favourite pasttime: shopping.

"Singaporeans must run even faster, to stay ahead of the competition coming from neighbouring countries & emerging economies. It is a marathon & we have to run fast & run without end."
"When it comes to making judgements on matters connected with the human condition in their numerous forms as seen in their social, political or economic manifestations, there is no substitute for the human brain to distill concepts from experience & then subjecting these to critical analyses."
"We must learn to do things today with tomorrow very clearly in our minds."(S Rajaratnam, one of Singapore's founding fathers, first Foreign Minister & former Senior Minister)
"Look, whenever you embark on anything, please tell me what is your objective. And there must be one. I don't want five. Just give me the principal objective. If you like, you can give me the ancillary objectives. But the principal objective must be clearly stated because later, as we go along, there will be tendencies to fudge. I don't want the principal objective to be fudged."(J Y Pillay, former Chairman of Singapore Airlines, who has often being credited for building the airline to what it is today, drawing a management parallel from the Bhagavad Gita, a Hindu scripture, written 2,600 years ago.)
"More than ever our ability to succeed will depend on the adaptiveness & ingenuity of our people.
